You will love it!

These tofu fries will hit the spot each and every time. The fries get their signature crisp from being coated in chips. I like to amp up the flavor of the fries by adding nutritional yeast or bbq seasoning into the mix.

Chef Tosca Tip

Make sure the tofu is nice and dry. This helps it cook evenly so it will crisp up.

Ingredients

For the tofu fries:

  • 200g tofu
  • 2 bags of chips (280g)
  • 2 tsp seasoning of choice, here I used nutritional yeast and bbq seasoning
  • Soy milk
  • Maïzena

For homemade ketchup:

  • 360g tomato passata
  • 2 tbsp agave syrup
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C and line a baking pan with baking paper
  2. Drain and dry tofu with a kitchen towel
  3. Cut tofu in the shape of fries
  4. In a food processor, blitz the potato chips along with seasoning spices until it turns into breading
  5. Dip the “fries” in soy milk, then maïzena, then again in the soy milk and finally in the potato chips breading mix until covered in breading
  6. Align them on the baking pan and bake for 20min or until golden and crisp
  7. In a saucepan, mix all homemade ketchup ingredients and cook on medium-high heat until it has well reduced and concentrated as ketchup. Stir occasionally (about 20 to 30min)
  8. Top fries with sprouts and enjoy while dipping in ketchup or your favorite dip
