You will love it!

For when you can't decide on a sweet or savory dessert, this sesame chocolate chip cookie will fill both categories in the best way possible. The sweet chocolate chip cookies mix with a blend of sesame to create a nutty, chocolate bite. The cookies are great on their own or with a hot cup of tea.

Chef Tosca Tip

Don't skip chilling the dough. It will help keep the texture of the cookies in the oven.

Ingredients

  • 220g all-purpose flour
  • 150g vegan butter (room temperature)
  • 200g raw sugar
  • 5g baking powder
  • 100g apple compote
  • 1 tsp vanilla powder
  • Black and white sesame seeds
  • Large pinch of flaky salt for topping
  • Extra Chocolate chips for topping

method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the vegan butter and raw sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Stir in the apple compote and vanilla powder, mixing until smooth.
  4. Add the flour and baking powder, and mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop the dough into balls (about 2 tablespoons each).
  7. Roll each ball in a mix of black and white sesame seeds to coat.
  8. Place them on the baking tray, leaving space to spread. Press a few extra chocolate chips into the top of each cookie and sprinkle with flaky salt.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are just set.
  10. Allow to cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
